Joshua Miguel Orille
My name is Joshua Miguel, but you can call me Josh. I'm 16 years old, and I've been selected to go on a program to Spain for the 2018/2019 school year! I have one main goal, and that's to perfect my Spanish. This program is extremely important to me, and I'm ecstatic that I've been selected for it. I plan on studying Linguistics in Spain as in the future, as I want to become a translator for the United Nations. This program is the first, crucial step.
Every year, since 1947, AFS Interculture has been sending more than 10,000 teenagers in many different programs to over 50 countries. Recognized to be of public interest by the United Nations, AFS Interculture Canada is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization. The organization provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. By donating to me and my program, you are supporting the values of AFS, which are as such:
-AFS enables people to act as responsible global citizens working for peace and understanding in a diverse world. It acknowledges that peace is a dynamic concept threatened by injustice, inequity, and intolerance.
-AFS seeks to affirm faith in the dignity and worth of every human being and of all nations and cultures. It encourages respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms without distinction as to race, sex, language, religion or social status.
-AFS activities are based on the five core values of dignity, respect for differences, harmony, sensitivity, and tolerance.
In short, you will be funding a program and organization that prepares and equips the new generation to be the changemakers and leaders of tomorrow.
¡Gracias por tu consideración!
